Behind the Design

When designing our tow hooks we wanted to make sure they would withstand the rigors of extreme trail use. We went the extra mile with these and keyed them into the mounting plate so that we could weld on both the front and back side. This design was tested to over 33,000 lbs of inline pulling force on a single shackle. Another benefit of this design is when you are having to make a side loaded pull. We all know that there are times when you can’t get a straight pull so by keying these 2 pieces together we transfer the load from just depending on the weld to the plates themselves essentially binding them together.

Many customers have converted to soft shackles and rope so we chamfer all edges to minimize the chance of cutting a rope on a sharp edge. The hook at the top is designed as a quick access point in the event you don’t have time to set up a shackle for a more standard pull. The radius at the front is ¾” so a steel ¾” shackle will fit perfectly into it. The hole is also large enough that a standard hook with a safety latch will fit through it to secure your winch line while driving down the road.
